WELCOME
I offer consulting services to former cult members who are seeking compassion, understanding, education, guidance, and support to navigate and rebuild life after a cultic or coercive control experience.
I am here to remind survivors that recovery is possible – no matter how much trauma, fear, or opposition they have faced.
I am available to consult with loved ones of current or former cult members who wish to ask questions, become educated, and seek guidance from someone who has a real understanding of cult dynamics.
I am also available to consult with former cult members who are considering or defending legal action, as well as legal practitioners, professionals, and others.
CULT EXPERIENCE
My cult journey has spanned almost 30 years. This includes enduring over 13 years of the cult itself, and then 15 years of recovery. The latter comprised personal healing, advocacy work, writing a book, and defending legal action made against me by my cult leader, all of which involved consistent re-traumatisation but ultimately, full recovery.
Of course, healing will be an ongoing process across all aspects of my life. However, I no longer get violent stomach churns, or a heavy, debilitating feeling in my chest whenever I think or talk about my experience. I am able to live my life with the memories of the past not overshadowing the peace and enjoyment of the present.
ADVOCACY
When I escaped my cult in January 2010, I was determined to seek justice for what I and thousands of others had survived. Within months of escaping my cult, I began the process of publicly exposing my cult leader. This led to me being sued twice for defamation, which comprised 9 years in total of court proceedings. I won both court cases, including an appeal, however the mental, emotional, and physical toll was immense.
For 15 years, I have also made ongoing attempts to have my cult leader de-registered as a psychologist. I have recently been made aware that finally(!) this has come to fruition. My cult leader is no longer registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) (since at least January 2026).
CULT RECOVERY
When someone leaves a cult, it is by no means smooth sailing from thereon in. It takes time and consistent effort to recover from the indoctrination, and in some cases radicalisation (to violence) to get to the point where a person feels safe, in control of their life, and where they begin to actually enjoy life again - or learn how to enjoy life for the very first time, if they were born into a cult.
Recovery after coercive control is not linear. Ultimately, it is different for everyone, and it is important for all parties to remember that the process cannot be rushed.
Each step in the healing process presents itself at the right time and in the ideal order, and every step - I can say from personal experience - is most definitely onward and upward!
What I have learned helps most is education, understanding, and compassion - for the cult member involved, as well as their loved ones.
A former cult member needs time to rest, reflect, acknowledge, accept, gain or regain autonomy, rebuild and/or build strong interpersonal connections, find their purpose, and ultimately feel confident in their life’s direction.
Former cult members have spent years surviving in an isolated and highly controlled environment. Some may have been completely separated from society. They have been on an extraordinarily traumatic journey - full of abuse, neglect, and personality annihilation. Once a cult member openly leaves or escapes, they are thrown into a world which is now foreign and frankly terrifying, and many have to totally rely on themselves to navigate it.
SUPPORT
If someone has not been through a cultic or coercive experience themselves, it is difficult for them to comprehend what the cult member has been through - this includes psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists.
I once went to a psychologist who stated at least five times that what I was saying was “overwhelming” for her. If a one-hour session where I relayed 0.0001% of my experience is “overwhelming”, imagine how a former cult member feels having experienced all that they have, and not being able to speak about it because they don’t feel truly understood, or in some cases, even believed.
In my opinion, it is important to find a mental health practitioner with extensive knowledge of cults, or better still - lived experience.
MY MISSION
My personal mission is to make cult dynamics and coercive control more widely understood and accepted as a reality; and to empower survivors and their loved ones with knowledge and recovery tools - providing guidance that many of us needed but could not find.
My sessions are about identifying language, perspective, and coercive control dynamics and mind control techniques, and to help people make sense of behaviours and experiences that were designed to confuse, disrupt, control, and maintain power over sovereignty.
I provide education and non-clinical guidance for individuals who have experienced cult dynamics, coercive control, and manipulative relationships. My work focuses on helping people understand what happened to them, rebuilding their sense of self, and regaining clarity, autonomy, and confidence.
Drawing from lived experience, extensive research, and successful defence of multiple litigation writs against me by my cult leader, I offer practical, grounded insights and tools that complement — but do not replace — therapy. Clients come to me for understanding, validation, strategic recovery support, tools, and resources, and a safe space to gain clarity without judgment.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A CONSULTING SESSION
Before the session
You will be asked a small number of questions when booking so I that I can understand what you would like support with.
There is no requirement to prepare a detailed history.
During the session
We will spend time discussing your experience at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you.
Many people find it helpful simply to speak openly about what they went through.

The focus is on understanding and orientation, not emotional processing or therapy.
At the end of the session
